Welcome Peyton Lane Cassidy!

Our family got a little bigger today at 6:07am. Peyton was born a whopping 7 lbs 13oz and 20.25 inches (3 weeks early). Here are some pictures of her big debut! (story about pre-hospital doctor's visit and how she got here following pictures...)

Friday, June 18th---Karen and her mom head to the OBGYN's for Karen's weekly appointment. During the first part of the visit, while looking at Karen's ultra sound pictures, Dr. Montilla asks what big plans we have for the weekend. Karen tells him about Brian's plans to head to PA Saturday morning for a wedding with his family. The exam starts and Dr. Montilla almost immediately says "Karen...your husband isn't going to PA this weekend...he's going to be here with you. You're having this baby this weekend." WOW!
Karen and Colleen head home and call Brian. After dinner Karen and Brian start getting bags ready to go to the hospital...and Karen starts feeling contractions about every hour around 6pm. By 8pm the contractions are coming every half hour, by 9pm every 15 minutes....Around 12am Karen tells Brian "we should probably head to the hospital now". They start loading the car and make it out the door by 1am (Brian now rushing Karen because she's being a little too laid back about the fact that contractions are now only 2-3 minutes apart).
Saturday, June 19th---it's 1:30am now and we're at the hospital. Everything is happening pretty quickly, we get checked in, the nurse checks Karen to see how dilated she is (5cm) and the staff informs us that Karen's doctor won't be in this weekend (someone else is covering the practice's patients). An epidural comes quickly this time- around 3am (with Liam Karen was already 10cm and having contractions back to back). Similar to labor with Liam, as soon as the epidural took affect, Karen's contractions stopped. We both took this break in activity to take a nice nap. :-) After only about 3 sets of pushing...Peyton arrived and Brian was able to cut the cord this time!
